David Hirschler is Director of OEM, Sustainability and Legislative Affairs for ERI, Inc., the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste and the world’s largest cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company. David is responsible for ERI’s various legislative responsibilities covering the gamut of extended product responsibility regulations through data protection regulations. In addition, David oversees the relationships with many of ERI’s major partners, including manufacturers, partner recyclers, and more.
Prior to his work with ERI, David served as Director of Waste Prevention at the New York City Department of Sanitation, Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling. He has worked in the recycling and waste prevention field for more than 15 years. Throughout his career, David has focused on the implementation and development of innovative programs and policies, including stringent data destruction systems, convenient electronics recycling plans, reuse systems, hazardous waste programs, producer responsibility programs and more. In addition, he has focused on the education for, and marketing of, these programs, interfacing regularly with the general public, government agencies and within individual business sectors.
David received his Master’s in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and his Bachelors in Environmental Science from Boston University.
